I've managed to keep this post itself humorous. I've added a very long comment on politics. This is a detailed response to comments posted on Frank's blog.
I've finally found a canidate we can all agree on.
Heck, even Bill and Dad would love this guy.

Serious problems with Palin:
So back in Franks' post from last week I left a comment that laid out a few points about Palin to why she scares me. Mind you, she scares me because of how she has handled I pointed them out and left the rest of the argument for you guys to follow up on. The problem is you're not aren't following up on them! So this aggravating because, I now feel I have to layout the entire point of the argument.
On Fruit Fly Research:
In her policy speech, Palin said that we should be spending money to help special needs children and do research on their behalf. She then went on to say that federal money to fund items such as fruit fly research. Look, I understand the anti-intellectual argument you are making Frank. But this goes beyond that. this is ignorant. Why? Several major advances in autism reseach have come about through fruit fly research. This is shooting your own foot stupid.
On the VP:
Has several times stated a view of the VP's role which is wrong, ignorant, or other wise unconstitutional. The VP is NOT in charge of the senate. The VP just doesn't roll up his arms and jumps in to make policy just like another senator. What drives me crazy is that we're having this discussion on why a VP candidate is not smarter than a 5th grader.
On Not knowing what the Bush Doctrine is:
I'm going to be simple about this. If would be hard to have a discussion about baseball if you didn't know important terms being used. We've having the same problem with Palin on Forign Policy issues because she clearly doesn't know what the heck people are talking about. You can play little league without knowing what a closer is. No so in the majors. You'd be removed from the team if you didn't know that.
McCain's Age as an Issue:
This is a valid issue because McCain would be the oldest president to take office... This would top even Regan. This increases the likely hood that Palin could replace McCain as president. The "heartbeat from the President" isn't a joke. It's the hard reality of the VP position. The above 3 issues indicate to me that Palin would be a poor, possibiliy disaterous individual to lead our nation. Yes, Palin has more executive experience than Biden and Obama combined, this does not automaticly mean she would be more competent. Again, this a compencyissue, not an experience issue.
Fruit Fly Research: Your point is where? Your sentence structure makes it seem like Palin wants fruit fly research=breakthroughs in autism. Sorry I don't look these things up, Greg, but this part of your comment makes no sense.
VP/Baseball and politics? Really?
Fine: She is far behind on her understanding of the VP (except she's perfectly in line with the Cheney view of a VP, hmmm) but McCain isn't going to drop dead in the first several months of his office. Which is more than enough time for Palin to get up to speed. I believe Palin can become a good leader, I have faith in people. Clearly, you want to write her off.
Age: So you admit you're biased against McCain's age. It is a joke, the quote is directly from SNL! It's a terrible joke that too many people take far too seriously. I believe that McCain will live long enough for Palin to get used to the national politics to be a suitable replacement as President. I would be greatly surprised if McCain died during his presidency from old age. I think you're making too much of this issue.
And my final comment. You have only attacked Sara Palin as justification for voting Obama. She is inexperienced, not incompetent or impossible to teach. She did an excellent job in the VP debate. Even Sara Palin can learn to be President.
My post was a thorough examination of both candidates, pros and cons, and why I favor McCain over Obama as a candidate. Your response has been to attack Sara Palin.
Thankfully, I don't write off little experience in someone I'm examining for president or VP, and at one point, you did the same thing for Barack Obama during the primaries. Attacking Sara Palin for political inexperience and McCain for being old does not make Obama in the least bit more appealing to vote for. So unless you plan on discussing something other than your rabid hatred of Sara Palin, I'm done with this little discussion.
My point was on competency, NOT experience.
Sorry, I meant to say that in her policy speech Palin said that we shouldn't be funding fruit-fly research.
If you want a reason to back Obama, HE BEAT THE CLINTON MACHINE.
Hey Bub,
you spelled my name wrong.....pay attention to detail please. And thank you for talking about my fruit flies.
Again, your reasoning is unsatisfactory at best, Greg. Vote for Obama because he beat Hillary Clinton in the primaries? You keep dodging the question of actually explaining why your candidate is worth voting for. Stop negatively defining your candidate!
Frank, I understand your point now. I picked Obama back in the primaries. I did so because at first he seemed liked the only one of a few candidates that wasn't going to hose the game development community. After that, I started to read his plans. Yes, they've changed since the beginning of the year, but have so reasonably. For instance, the changes he's had to roll out since the crash.
Frank, I've seen him talk in person. It's quite amazing. Through him, I can finally understand what it was like for Mom and Dad to have JFK in office. What it was like to have Bobby Kennedy Run for Office. Look at the response he had in Europe. Look at the crowds he's pulling in. It's changing the nation, and will change the world.
That's why I support Obama
