Frank: 7 Hours on a Bus, One Way

So I'm leaving Holy Cross at 6 AM to travel to Washington D.C. for the Patriot League championship round at American University. For those interested, the game will be shown on ESPN2, starting at 4:45. The winner of this game will gain an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament. This may be the last game of my Holy Cross career.

Anne, I agree with you on the home-brew campaign setting. That's how I prefer to do things as well. But take the time to really flesh out the setting, and give the characters plenty of room to maneuver.

I've been selected to compete in a cooking challenge at my school. I competed in this challenge last year, the Worcester Telegram and Gazette did an article on it. You can read the article here. This year, I'm going to make risotto with ingredients selected from what is being offered that night. And no, risotto is not on the menu.

Greg, you were welcome to initiate those e-mail, IM, phone conversations about the blog. If you really thought that discussion should not be talked about on the blog, then you should have said something sooner.

As a final note, I will pose a question/challenge to each of you for the final week of our first year of blogging. Thinking about the year, what were your highlights or most memorable moments on the blog? Did you enjoy this blogging experiment, and how would you rate our success at blogging for a year? Finally, what do you think the blog will look like after our year of posting is over, and Anne's challenge to us completed?

Anne

I've been reading Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass". Not just "Song of Myself", but the whole book. Let me tell you, there's some pretty racy stuff in there. It's good though. It's a cross between poetry and prose that I really like.

Here's one bit that I'm posting for all my bando buddies:
"With music strong I come, with my cornets and my drums,
I play not marches for accepted victors only, I play marches for conquer'd and slain persons."

Not much else is happening. I'm slowly developing a D&D campaign- a homebrew thing, as I'm too lazy to read up on Faerun and the other pre-made worlds. I think it's easier, and more convenient, to make it up as necessary.

I am kicking butt and taking names in Mafia Wars. Liz, Greg- join my mob! Please?
Anyways, I'll catch you all later!

And a followup

So I'm playing Animal Crossing again. The problem I'm facing right now is that I've planted so many fruit trees. So many that I seriously need to hire some not so legal foreign migrant workers to pick the fruit up... Or I could just spend 3 hours doing it myself and another week or so replanting fruit tress with normal ones.

After writing about Gibson this morning, I went out and got his latest novel, "Spook Country". I still have Pattern Recognition to finish, but I can't find it now after the move. I'm not to worried about it cause I though the main character was extremely boring and bland. Well, she's some brand-a-phobe so that doesn't exactly help her. What makes Pattern Recognition interesting is that the main plot revolves around pieces of film put on the net and the fans whom obsesses about it. Yep, Gibson got LonelyGirl15 right years before before she hit Youtube or Youtube itself for that matter.

Last week I bought a book on writing comics from one of the major DC editors. It's laid out well and explains the concepts well. This feeds into the "Greg wants to write a Comic Book" twang in the back of my head. It would be nice to have my name in the comic world mean something other than "some strange Alantian seeweed that heals".

A Case for Laziness

Yep, I missed last week's post. I started Monday night, tried to get back to it Tuesday. I checked the blog just before I sat down and saw Bill's post. I didn't bother finishing. I'm sick and tired of you all yapping about the blog on the blog. And each time you've done I've ignored it. This was a conversation that in all honestly should have been taken place over IM, emails, and phone calls. NOT front and center for everyone to know.

Or I might have found the agrippa method in Blogger that erases my post after first reading. And since I check my post after posting... I would have been the first reader. Yea, you'll believe that as much as I say I hack the gibson.
