Jessie: Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's day everyone. Well, technically it's Sunday. Greg and I had comapany over for dinner Sat night, so I'm posting late.
Our company was my co-worker, Jackie. I made dinner..... roasted duck, stuffed mushrooms, cheese and broccoli, cheese souffles, chocolate covered strawberries and peanut butter-cup brownies. Well, actually Greg covered the strawberries.
Today I went and picked up the dress! I also got one for my friend's wedding that's coming up. A wine coloured little number that goes for $115. Though, since I love the clearance rack, I only paid $30 for it.
I'm making beans in the crock pot. I've had multiple requests for them, so I threw some in, and now the whole hallway smells like beans and pork!
This week is going to be busy, Monday I work 7-3, and I just know I'm not going to get enough sleep, I never do. It should be easy, being double pay (it's a holiday ;-)), the facility runs on weekend staffing.
So, I need to run off to get some beauty sleep, and since it's a number thing... here's the staffing for Monday , Anne:

Unit A1.... 2 nurses, 6 LNAs, 1 unit aide
Unit A2.....2 nurses, 5 LNAs, 1 unit aide
Unit B2......2 nurses, 5 LNAs, 1 unit aide
Unit ELU....1 nurse, 3 LNAs, 0 unit aide
Unit CRU....2 nurses, 2 LNAs, 0 unit aide
Unit C3......2 nurses, 5 LNA, 1 unit aide
Unit C4......2 nurses, 5 LNAs (one of them being me!!!), 1 unit aide.

There's your numbers.... unless we have call-outs or a pandemic!!!!!

Liz: What a Week

I'm with Frank, this has been one hell of a week. I have February vacation next week so this week I had a million tests to study and prep for combined with lots of little extra stuff. Oof. I feel like I haven't sleep in days so I'm pretty excited to get some shut eye tonight.

The number topic (see anne's post) has been issued. We're going to have to find some system for the topic thing, suggestions? Anyways the number topic will start next week. Starting with Gregs post.

For part of next week I'll going up to maine to do some serious sledding. Yay!

THERE IS GRASS OUTSIDE! Weather in NA has been fabulous, I hope the snow doesn't come back for the rest of the season. (except in Maine though, I want lots of snow up there :] )

Bill is comming around to the "post whenever you can during the week" idea. Does anyone else have any comments on that idea?

I joined recorder choir! I play alto recorder :]

Everyone stay healthy! (and if your sick GET BETTER!!!)
Love always,
Elizabeth

Frank: A Long Week

So, I really have no idea what to talk about this week. I've been insanely busy this week, so I wasn't able to check the blog much at all. If we can pick up our initial format of posting our name in the title of our post, it'll make catching up a lot easier. I didn't know whose post I was reading on Wednesday until I was halfway through them. Just my two cents. Is this the week we're supposed to mention numbers? I'm not really sure how this topic this is going to work, especially if the person issuing the topic changes every week.

So much to post and I forgot!

I need to let you all know that I forgot to post but really did. I was actully sitting around Monday wondering when I could post. Then I got busy on Tuesday and forgot. But i'm doing it now. It's going to be a long one for me.

First of all we had layoffs at work, last Thursday. That day sucked for a lot of people but I am still working. I took Friday off as a vacation day so I could help Alecia drive to North Carolina (more on that later), so by not being there the day after a layoff, a lot of people thought I got cut, so it was funny seeing them on Monday. Dad's plant had layoff, and a lot of people got cut but he made it through. If you've never been through or been laid off you have no idea how stressful it is. You are working where your friends used to work, kinda makes you feel hollow inside.

Now on to the trip down in North Carlina....

So on Friday last week I drove with Alecia and Noah (Matt and Alecia's dog) down to N.C. It took us about 14-16 hours we took our time. Anyway if you have ever driven for hours on end listening to either dead radio air/gospel or nothing you know know what it is to drive down south. When we got to the house that Alecia was renting hte electricy was on but the water got turned off and they didn't turn it on. Now when renting most places it customary to have the water on so you pee while moving in, just call and have it transfered the next day. Not a big deal, well only if it wasn't turned on. So another night in a hotel.

Food was Southern, kinda funny and not clean. We ate at a "Waffle House"

If you have a weak stomach stop reading till the plane ride part.

Any way it's a greasy little hole in the wall chain that is big down south, almost as big a cracker barrel. So they use less than sanitary conditions there. No gloves when touching your food, that is even after the touch the raw meat and then touch your hot waffle or omelet. Secondly, they wipe their hands on their apron which is dirty. So you have bare hands touching dirty apron, touching your food. The grill didn't look like it got cleaned all that much and they poured on the grease. Yuck. But we ate there anyway. We paid our bill eray which is a good call on Alecia, because when the change came back a man we saw earlier came to the counter and in a low breath said something. The manager, who while a woman had a little to much chin hair asked him to repeat it louder.
I'm not lying when he said "Food's bad."
She said "Why, what wrong"
He replied, "There is a hair in it."
She gave it to one of the workers and he looked at it and said he'll "put it in the back for later." We then left, my stomach doing twists and turns.

Plane Ride Home......

So the city that Alecia lives has a little airport kinda like Providence. I got on a little jet, this time I didn't have to get on the runway to get on it so it was a bonus. Only down side was that we didn't take off on time, just a half hour late till we were in the air. I flew into Charlotte which is a big airport. We landed as my plane was boarding, crap! So I ran over and got on the plane. Now thier was a screaming child that yelled most of the way. I'm not blaming her or her parents, I have no idea why she was there or the reason. I just hope it was a good one. I do hate the woman next to me that was complaining about it hte entire time. If you do nothing to solve the problem you better do nothing to make it worse. So crying baby flying from Charlotte to NY and bitchy person next to me, nice. We land I have two mintues before my plane takes off, CRAP! The plane with the baby was so full and people are so slow they opened up the back and I walked down to the runway to the terminal. I did not know it at the time but this would happen agian. So I run to Laguida airport, which if you look out the window while you land you think you will land on water. The runway is mere yards from the water, scary. Anyway I run to the other side of the airport, and by the grace of god I made it for the last leg home. I had to walk out on the runway to my plane. It was a little two prop. plane. Guess who had a seat next to that bad boy! you guessed it, ME! The stwerdess's english, not that good, so I was planing on dying if we had to evacuate. Going sideways while taking off or flying is scary agian, but at night, wow. So i'm flying in this aircraft of death, not eaten since a disgusting waffle house thinking "I hope we land so I can eat." And we do land and out the door I go on hte runway to the termainal to meet..... no one. Dad was running late and no one was picking up thier phones, think of all the laughs I had. But now just like every good story it has to end. I walked out of the airport with Dad after (my new saying) "Living the dream".

The End
Work is going very well! I like what I do (even thought customers can be a pain) and the people I work with are absolutely lovely. I think one of them has decided to adopt me.

Other than that, things go on as they always have. The second season of The Guild is out, or at least most of it is, so I've been watching that. Always entertaining. :)

I ordered Kobolds Ate My Baby, and am awaiting that eagerly. Once I get it, I'm going to try and run a few sessions. I want to start GMing, but I didn't want to get into a huge campaign right off the bat, so I figure I'll start with something silly. So expect some extreme nerdiness in the future.

I just donated a big bag of books! I actually went through my books and got rid of some! I am SO proud of myself for going through that traumatic process. I still need a new bookshelf, of course.

Apparently the ending of Watchman the movie will be different from the one in the book. BOOOOOOO!!!

P.S. BILL How are you enjoying Watchmen? It's dark, but very good.

I think that's about it for now. For next weeks topic, why don't we talk about numbers? Anything at all, just tie it into numbers somehow.

That's all for me! Have a great week everyone!

Serriously

Jess spoke a little too soon... Shortly after she posted, I got sick. I've been asleep most of the day, trying to recover from what she had last week.

Jess bought me this awesome watch for V-Day. She wanted to make sure I had, as the actualy 14th might be crazy for both of us. What makes this watch so cool is that it doesn't need a battery... As long as I wear it, the movement of my hand will wind it up. It's not as accurate as a quartz watch, but then again, I don't need a battery.

There was a discussion on Obama. Being sick and all, I can't express myself as I normally would. So instead I made an image of what I think when I listen to you all talk about Obama.

Common, a guy who's "Good for a beer" can't be bad as you all make him out to be.
