Frank: Dokapon Kingdom! and MTELs!

So I acquired Dokapon Kingdom last Saturday, and it's pretty fun. I think it'd be a lot more fun to play with people than CPUs, since they have absurdly good luck. Also, they don't screw each other over as much as they mess with me. But the game delivers everything promised, though it moves slower than I imagined. However, the turn based style makes it easy to keep playing, long after you meant to stop.

Earlier this week, I registered to take the MTEL. MTEL stands for Massachussetts Tests for Educator Licensure, and I can't teach without a license. I'm gonna go for English 8-12 grade license and probably teach for the next couple of years. I really enjoy teaching, and every chance I've gotten to teach, I always do well. I would love to get published and become a novel writer, but teaching will give me time and motivation to earn my master's degree and I think I would eventually want to become an English professor at a liberal arts institution. That's all much further down the line of course. I'll be taking my test on March 7th.

I found an awesome conservative blog I would like to add to our blog friends/blogs we can check from the dashboard, but I don't want to upset anyone or expose this blog to unprovoked nasty commenting. I know people associated with the blog and don't want to be embarrassed or embarrass my friends. Perhaps we can discuss this over the next week or so, and I would gladly welcome a liberal blog to be added to keep things fair and balanced.

I implore the rest of you to consider a rules change. I speak for myself, but I believe there's a similar sentiment among other members of the blog that posting is a chore and brings up a lot of negative memories. We need to reinvent the blog in a way that makes it more fun for everyone. We can't accomplish that under the current system. As Greg pointed out, double commenting is against the blog rules and was violated last week. However, that rule was put in place to prevent spiteful spamming, and in the spirit of the rule, I chose to comment twice when I had something else to say. Especially since we can't edit our comments, it's really annoying to want to add something and have to risk being punished. This is an excellent example of something we should change. If there's a valid discussion in the comments, why let a rule get in the way? CARTHAGO DELENDA EST!

I don't want to link and I don't want the rules changed except for no politics in the blog and no religious debates. Do it at home. Because if my wishes are not met then I'm out or will think of something else to ruin your day. I think that with the election over things will cool down.

I don't think we should rule out content, because if you don't want to hear about religious stuff, despite the fact I'm majoring in it, then I never want to hear about anything engineering, or brewing beer. That's just an example, I'm not saying I would actually demand that.
A rules change might benefit you the most, Bill, since you've got several unpunished missed posts to make up for. I don't imagine things are going to cool down, maybe we'll ignore them for a bit, but the political tension is going to be there, whether we talk about it or not. It's hard for there not to be tension when I'm considered an irresponsible, ignorant conservative.

Frank I think it's awesome that your taking you MTEL thats a great step forward on the whole career thing. Plus you would be a good teacher.

On the blog rules thing,I did mean to send out the e-mail to set up a day to discuss things however it was midterm week this week so I was very busy. We might all be together on Saturday, maybe we can discuss it AFTER the party.

Yay teaching!

I must say, as much as I am proud of you for taking the test, I am also relieved that you finally decided on something you like :)

Compromise, if we can reach one, will be the way to continue the blog. Just remember that kiddies.

Woo MTEL's! You'll whoop them, no problem.
