So.... new challenge rules?
1) You post a challenge, which begins the next Monday.
2) Siblings can veto the challenge in the comments. If you don't comment, it will be assumed you agree to do the challenge.
3) Majority rules. At least 3 siblings have to agree. In other words, 3 siblings HAVE to veto the challenge in the comments to get it tossed out.
4) No more than one challenge a week.
I'm doing this because Bill's right about the mandatory nature of challenges. I know I'm freaking out about his challenge- I don't know how I feel about Newton's 2nd law of motion. Which is why I'm issuing a new challenge, to test the rules and help me forget about Newton. If it is accepted, it will take place the week AFTER the Newton Challenge.
Challenge: Name and briefly discuss a book that has influenced you. I prefer to keep politics out of this (Greg!), but anything else should be ok. It doesn't have to be the full 5 sentences, just the book & author and why you chose it.
Greg needs a punishment for a late post, I believe. I suggest a post, 15 sentence minimum with NO links, hyper or otherwise. And no embedded pictures or videos. Just straight up text.
Bill also missed a post. I would say... 20 sentence minimum, with NO spelling or grammar mistakes. (I messed with his name so he'd notice it.)
There are extenuating circumstances, so these are not mandatory. You're just a rule-breaking filthy communist hippy if you don't do it.

First comment. I'm gonna accept your challenge for the book.
As for Bill's challenge about Newton, it has my approval.
Are we enforcing the rules retroactively? Because technically Bill's challenge is mandatory, being issued before we amended the challenge rules.
Frank, I'm going to allow you to respond again in the comments, as this is something I want to figure out soon.
I don't like Gregs punishment. You're pretty much telling him to make a boring post, which is a punishment to us cause we have to read it.
I think Bills punishment should be to write twenty sentences ( like a regular post just longer) that is well written. But it's ok if it has some sp/gr mistakes.
I like your challenge, but I don't you should issue challenges while one is already out. That will probably lead to a line up of challenges.
I'm fine with applying the rules retroactively, but it's a vote thing. We need some easier way of voting, like an e-mail list. Just shoot a quick e-mail with your vote. That'd be easier than comments, as not everyone comments on every post, at least on the day it's published.
I think we all agree the rules need tweaking, but it's up to us as siblings to decide what we want, it's not just for Anne and myself to decide. Basically, we need to increase communication about this kind of thing outside our posts to get something figured out that we all agree upon.
I am agreement with Frank and Anne on the rules needing an adjustment. I like Anne's veto rule in the comments but also agree with Frank that not everyone reads the blog on a daily basis. I read on my day to post and the weekend unless someone tells me to read wicked good post.(Tip of the hat to Liz for the video. Wag of the finger to Greg.) I say if you are not reading on the weekends it is your own fault. And I rule for having such a long comment!
